Aaaaaaaaand we’re back…
1. DCUC: Any thought given to build-a-vehicle or build-a-playset waves instead of build-a-character? And how big is too big for a build-a-character? Imperiex and Chemo seem to be pushing (in a good way) the boundaries.
Yes, we have thought of both of these as new executions for the collect and connect feature. Nothing to announce quite yet though!
2. Wonder Pig in the JLU line was a great bonus for most collectors. Will this be continuing in the future? We can probably think of a few suggestions if you like.
Yes, if the single figures continue the plan is to include cool accessories like this. We have a list, too!
3. When will you know or be able to announce the fate of JLU for next year? We know you can’t give a specific date, just looking for a general idea. Per comments made at SDCC, all of the product shown there and previously shown should be in stores by the end of the year. Some have speculated that this is because the line will be changing in some way (internet exclusive, no longer Target exclusive, etc).
We will have news about our 2010 lines in the near future.
4. Are the “blank” jlu bodies still on the idea table to be produced? If so, how about including the neck posts, like the GL head swap with basic heads included to pop them on the bodies?
At this time we’ll be putting all our efforts into new figures, not blank bodies. We did discuss it though!
5. How are the character assortments decided on for each of the lines per wave? Is there a (for lack of a better word) committee that makes recommendations? Who approves the final assortments for each wave?
Check out the detailed article in last February’s Toy Fare magazine for the full scoop! It is basically a combination of Mattel proposing a figure line up, getting WB and DC’s comments and then revising. But all the details are in this great interview.
Many thanks to ToyGuru and Matty of Mattel.
